Dodgers Preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers are 7-3 this year after they lost game one in this series by a score of 9-7 on Friday. Prior to that loss, LA had won four games in a row and they have scored at least five runs in all 10 games this year. The Los Angeles pitching staff has a 4.60 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP and a .229 opponent batting average this year. The Dodgers offense has scored 64 runs with a .295 batting average and a .376 on base percentage. Teoscar Hernandez is batting .300 with four home runs and 14 RBI’s for the Dodgers. The projected starting pitcher for LA is Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who is 0-1 with a 7.50 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP over 6.0 innings pitched this year.

Cubs Preview

The Chicago Cubs are 5-2 this season and they have won five games in a row. Prior to their game one win, Chicago won all three games against Colorado and their last game against Texas. The Chicago pitching staff has a 4.60 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP, and a .262 opponent batting average. The Cubs offense has scored 49 runs with a .279 batting average and a .384 on base percentage. Seiya Suzuki is batting .345 with two home runs and 11 RBI’s for the Cubs. The projected starting pitcher for Chicago is Jordan Wicks, who is 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA and a 2.00 WHIP over 4.0 innings pitched this season.

Chicago Cubs Team Facts

  • The Cubs have covered the run line in eight of their last nine games as home underdogs.
  • The Cubs have led after 7 innings in each of their last eight home games against NL West opponents.
  • The Cubs have led after 3 innings in three of their last four games as underdogs.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the last six day games between the Dodgers and Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Los Angeles Dodgers Team Facts

  • The Dodgers have won each of their last nine day games following a loss.
  • The Dodgers have covered the run line in eight of their last nine day games following a road loss.
  • The Dodgers have trailed after 7 innings in each of their last three games as favorites against NL Central opponents.
  • The Dodgers have trailed after 3 innings in each of their last four games against National League opponents that held a winning record.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Dodgers’ last six day games at Wrigley Field.

Dodgers vs Cubs Betting Prediction

Chicago was able to get a crazy win in game one of this series and their offense has been on fire in the last five games. The Cubs have scored 44 runs in their last five games, while LA has scored at least five runs in all ten of their games this season. The Dodgers haven’t had the best pitching to open the season and they will turn to Yamamoto, who pitched much better in his second outing this year. The Cubs are going with Jordan Wicks, who allowed just two earned runs against Texas in his first start, but only lasted 4.0 innings. Both teams are on fire offensively right now, but I think we are going to see another solid start from Yamamoto and I like the Dodgers to win by at least two runs.
