The Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox meet Saturday in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field. This will be the second installment in a three-game weekend series. In the Friday opener, the Red Sox bagged a two-run win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox played the Twins this week and split a four-game series. On Friday versus the White Sox, Boston was out-hit 8-4 in a 3-1 victory. Starting pitcher Brayan Bello put up 6.2 innings with one earned on six hits and a walk.

For the starter job on Saturday it’ll be Boston’s James Paxton. Over his seven starts this year Paxton is 3-1 with a 3.29 ERA and 51 Ks in 38.1 innings. Paxton is 60-34 with a 3.58 ERA in 144 career starts.

Chicago White Sox

Over on the White Sox’ side, they took on the Rangers in their last set, winning just one of three games. In the Friday opener Chicago briefly had the game tied but couldn’t score after the third inning. Lucas Giolito struck out 10 in 6.0 innings with three hits, one earned and a walk in the start.

It’ll be Lance Lynn in the starting role for the White Sox on Saturday. Across his 15 starts this year Lynn is 4-8 with a 6.51 ERA and 102 Ks in 84.1 innings. Lynn is 127-92 with a 3.66 ERA in 324 games (300 starts).

The Red Sox are 2-5 in their last seven in game two of a series and 2-6 in their last eight versus a team with a losing record. The under is 5-1 in Boston’s last six Saturday games.

Meanwhile, the White Sox are 13-3 in their last 16 in game two of a series and 3-9 in their last 12 at home versus a lefty starter. The under is 5-1-1 in Chicago’s last seven Saturday games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stay with Boston here. This should be another fun installment of the “Laundry Series,” though. Paxton has five earned over his last three starts in 19.1 combined innings. He’s 2-0 in that time. As for Lynn, he’s 0-2 in his last trio with 12 combined earned runs in 17.0 frames. On Friday Boston got a pretty great pitching performance across the board, and the pen allowed just two hits, no walks and no earned runs. The Red Sox only saw hits from three different batters however, so the bats will likely need to wake up in game two.

Mitch Wilson's Free Pick: Boston Red Sox -111
