Tigers Preview

The Detroit Tigers are 1-0 this season after they defeated the White Sox in Game 1 by a score of 1-0 in their first game. Detroit scored once in the third inning and they were able to shut out the White Sox for the win. The Tigers scored the lone run in the game on an Ibanez sacrifice fly, which scored Baez. Detroit recorded six hits in the game and drew one walk, but could only score the one run. Skubal pitched for the Tigers and he was great, going six innings and allowing 0 runs on three hits and six strikeouts. Miller, Chafin, and Foley came in from the bullpen to preserve the shutout. The projected starting pitcher for Detroit is Kenta Maeda, who was 6-8 with a 4.23 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP over 104.1 innings pitched for the Twins last season. The Tigers will play against the Mets in the series after this one.

White Sox Preview

The Chicago White Sox are 0-1 to start this season after their shutout loss on Thursday, but they will look to bounce back here. Chicago couldn’t get anything going offensively in that loss and really never put any pressure on the Detroit pitching staff. The White Sox recorded three hits and drew no walks in the game. Chicago got hits from Robert Jr., Jimenez, and Vaughn. Crochet started for the White Sox in Game 1 and he pitched very well, going six innings and allowing one earned run on five hits with eight strikeouts. Garcia, Kopech, and Leone came on in relief and only allowed one hit over three innings. The projected starting pitcher for Chicago is Michael Soroka, who was 2-2 with a 6.40 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP over 32.1 innings pitched for the Braves last season. Following this series, the White Sox will meet the Braves

Chicago White Sox Team Facts

  • The road team has won eight of the White Sox’s last nine games.
  • The White Sox have covered the run line in seven of their last eight day games against American League opponents following a loss.
  • The White Sox have led after 5 innings in each of their last five Saturday games against American League opponents that held a winning record.
  • The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the White Sox’s last six day games.

Detroit Tigers Team Facts

  • The Tigers have won each of their last 12 day games against AL Central opponents.
  • The Tigers have covered the run line each of their last eight Saturday games against AL Central opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Tigers have led after 7 innings in each of their last 15 day games against AL Central opponents.
  • The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Tigers’ last three road games.
  • The Tigers have led after 3 innings in each of their last three games against the White Sox.

Tigers vs White Sox Betting Prediction

Detroit comes into this season with hopes of competing for a division championship, but they need to find some offense after last season’s poor showing. The Tigers should have a very solid pitching staff this year, as we saw Skubal look great in his first start. Chicago is probably going to have a rebuilding year and I think they are going to have one of the worst offenses in the MLB once again this season. The White Sox are going with Soroka in this game, who has battled injuries for most of his career. I don’t love Maeda, who is starting for Detroit, but I think we have to fade the White Sox until they prove they are better than how they finished last season. Take the Tigers here.
