The Houston Astros and the Chicago White Sox meet Tuesday in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field. Here’s a Houston Astros vs Chicago White Sox prediction. This will be the first installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Houston Astros Betting Preview

The Astros played the Detroit Tigers over the weekend. Houston took a 13-5 blowout loss in the Saturday installment of that set, but won the other two 4-0 and 4-1 to take the series. In the Sunday victory the Astros had just five hits, but held Detroit to only three on the other side. Starter Ronel Blanco came away with 7.0 innings, no hits, three walks and eight Ks.

For the starter gig in the Tuesday game the Astros will send out Framber Valdez. This year Valdez is 5-4 with a 3.99 ERA in 11 starts. He has 51 Ks in 67.2 innings. Valdez is 58-38 with a 3.45 ERA in 140 games (118 starts) over his career.

Chicago White Sox Betting Preview

Over on the White Sox’ side, they played the Arizona Diamondbacks in their last series. Chicago only managed one win in that series, a 9-2 result on Saturday. Otherwise it was losses 7-1 Friday and 12-5 in the finale. During Sunday’s loss, White Sox starter Drew Thorpe gave up seven earned on six hits and five walks in 3.1 innings.

It’ll be Jonathan Cannon in the starter slot for the White Sox on Tuesday. This year so far Cannon is 0-1 with a 4.56 ERA in five games (four starts). He has 24 Ks in 23.2 innings during his rookie campaign.

Houston Astros vs Chicago White Sox Prediction

I’ll stay with Houston. Valdez does need a good bounce-back start, though. In his last outing Valdez gave up five earned on eight hits and one walk in 4.0 innings during a loss to the Giants. Prior to that however Valdez had just two earned in 16.0 innings during a pair of wins. As for Cannon, he’s been pretty good over his last two outings with one earned in 10.0 innings.

The Astros have scored three or more runs in nine straight games. Houston should be able to keep that trend going in this one, and it ought to be enough offense to generate a W in the opener.
