The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Cincinnati Reds meet Thursday in MLB action from Great American Ball Park. Here’s a Cincinnati Reds vs Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction. This will be the final installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Preview

The Diamondbacks played the San Diego Padres over the weekend, losing 7-1 Friday and 13-1 Saturday before staving off the sweep with an 11-4 victory. In Tuesday’s game one versus the Reds, Arizona managed a 6-2 win. In game two the Diamondbacks eked out a 4-3 win with eight team hits. Starter Jordan Montgomery finished with 7.0 innings, two earned, seven hits and two walks.

In the starting pitcher role for the Diamondbacks on Thursday it’ll be Slade Cecconi. This year Cecconi is 1-2 with a 4.96 ERA and 15 Ks in 16.1 innings over three starts. In his career Cecconi has a 4.57 ERA and a 1-3 record over 10 games (seven starts).

Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview

Over on the Reds’ side, they had trouble with the Orioles in their weekend set. Cincinnati lost all three of those games 3-0, 2-1 and 11-1. Following their four-run loss Tuesday, in the Wednesday game the Reds had the game tied in the fifth but couldn’t complete the comeback. Graham Ashcraft went 5.0 innings in the start with three earned on six hits and three walks.

It’ll be Hunter Greene in the starting pitcher role for the Reds on Thursday. This year over his seven starts Greene is 1-2 with a 3.12 ERA and 47 Ks in 40.1 innings. Greene is 10-22 with a 4.40 career ERA in 53 starts. The Reds will meet the Giants after this series.

Diamondbacks vs Reds Injury Notes

Diamondbacks RP Kyle Nelson (shoulder) underwent thoracic outlet surgery on Monday. Nelson is on the 60-day Injured List.

The Reds transferred RP Ian Gibaut (forearm) from the 15-day Injured List to the 60-day Injured List on Tuesday.

Cincinnati Reds vs Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Reds here. Greene has been good over his last two starts. In that pair he has zero earned on six hits and five walks in 12.2 innings total, going 1-0. As or Cecconi, he had a rough outing versus the Padres his last time up (4.1 innings; six earned) but had just three earned in 12.0 innings prior to that.

On Wednesday the Reds got three hits from Jeimer Candelario and two hits from both Tyler Stephenson and TJ Friedl but not much else was going on offensively. The bullpen was great on 4.0 innings, two hits, one earned, no walks and five Ks, though. Cincinnati needs to rally the bats behind Greene on Thursday, but I think they’ve got a good shot.
