The Boston Red Sox and the Cincinnati Reds meet Saturday in MLB action from Great American Ball Park. Here’s a Cincinnati Reds vs Boston Red Sox prediction. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Boston Red Sox Betting Preview

The Red Sox had a good series versus the rival Toronto Blue Jays this week. Boston won all three of those games in a sweep with victories 7-3, 4-3 and 7-3. On Friday in the opener versus the Reds, Boston lost a tough one 5-2.

In the starter slot for the Saturday game the Red Sox will go with Nick Pivetta. This season Pivetta is 4-4 with a 3.88 ERA and 59 Ks in 53.1 innings over 10 starts. Pivetta is 54-63 with a 4.80 ERA in 206 career games (162 starts).

Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview

Over on the Reds’ side, they played the Pittsburgh Pirates in their last series. Cincinnati split the first two games 4-1 (loss) and 2-1 (win) before a tough loss 1-0 in the finale. On Friday the Reds only had six hits but benefitted from three Boston errors.

It’ll be Frankie Montas in the starting pitcher role for the Reds on Saturday. This year Montas is 3-5 with a 4.62 ERA and 49 Ks in 60.1 innings across 13 starts. Montas is 40-40 with a 3.96 ERA in 143 games (112 starts).

Cincinnati Reds vs Boston Red Sox Prediction

I’ll stay with the Red Sox. Pivetta is 2-0 over his last three starts with a combined seven earned runs in 18.0 innings during that time. Back on June 12 versus the Phillies however, Pivetta was a little shaky with four earned in 4.0 innings during a no-decision. As for Montas, he’s given up seven earned in his last 6.1 innings over two starts.

On Friday the Red Sox got multiple hits from Jarren Duran and Connor Wong; no one else had much success at the plate. Boston needs a good bounce-back Saturday, but I think they’ll be fine.
