The Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Guardians meet Thursday in MLB action from Progressive Field. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Cleveland Guardians vs Chicago White Sox Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Chicago White Sox did not have a starter announced at the time that this article was published. The Cleveland Guardians will start Ben Lively here and Lively is 7-4 with a 3.03 ERA and 61 strikeouts this season. This will be Lively’s second career start against the White Sox.

Chicago White Sox Recap

The Chicago White Sox will look to win the rubber match of the series after picking up an 8-2 win over the Guardians on Wednesday, evening the series up at one win apiece. The win would give the White Sox a rare feat for their season so far, back-to-back series wins, after knocking off the Rockies last weekend.

White Sox Looking To Make Some Noise

Gavin Sheets has a .233 batting average and a .330 OBP along with a team-high 17 doubles and 28 RBIs while Andrew Vaughn also has 11 homers and 41 RBIs and Andrew Benintendi has 6 home runs and 24 RBIs with Vaughn logging 15 doubles as well as a team-high 75 hits. Paul DeJong also has a team-high 15 home runs and 34 RBIs with a team-high 92 strikeouts as well this season.

Why the Chicago White Sox will win

  • The Guardians have lost seven of their last eight day games against AL Central opponents that held a losing record.
  • The White Sox have won three of their last four games as underdogs against the Guardians following a road win.
  • The White Sox have covered the run line in seven of their last eight games against the Guardians.
  • The Guardians have failed to cover the run line in seven of their last eight day games against AL Central opponents that held a losing record.

Cleveland Guardians Recap

The Cleveland Guardians come into this one looking to bounce back from a rough showing in Wednesday’s loss. The loss put the Guardians at risk of back-to-back series losses after dropping three of four in their weekend series against the Royals.

Guardians Looking To Rebound From Sluggish Week At The Plate

Jose Ramirez leads the Guardians with 89 hits as well as 23 home runs and 76 RBIs while Josh Naylor also has 20 home runs and 61 RBIs of his own. Ramirez has a team-high 17 doubles while Tyler Freeman has 12 doubles and Andres Gimenez has 38 RBIs with 14 stolen bases while the aforementioned Ramirez has a team-high 16 stolen bases on the year.

Why the Cleveland Guardians will win

  • The White Sox have lost each of their last six road games following a win.
  • The Guardians have won each of their last six home games against AL Central opponents following a loss.
  • The White Sox have failed to cover the run line in each of their last six games as road underdogs following a win.
  • The Guardians have covered the run line in five of their last six games against American League opponents following a home loss.

Cleveland Guardians vs Chicago White Sox Prediction

I’m on the Guardians here. I think regression’s going to hit Ben Lively sooner rather than later, but he’s still producing for the Guardians this season and I’m just not ready to back Jared Shuster. He was a cast-off in Atlanta where he never really got himself together, and I don’t expect him to figure it out here against a Guardians team that has been good at beating the teams that they’re supposed to beat this season. Give me the Guardians in this one.
