The Houston Astros and the Cleveland Guardians meet Friday in MLB action from Progressive Field. Here’s a Cleveland Guardians vs Houston Astros prediction. This will be the first installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Guardians vs Astros pick.

Houston Astros Betting Preview

Houston took on the Seattle Mariners in their last series. The Astros split the first pair in that set 6-1 (loss) and 4-3 (win). In the Thursday rubber match, Houston took an 8-1 loss. The Astros were out-hit 8-4 in that one and committed a whopping five errors.

Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview

Over on the Guardians’ side, they’re fresh off a pair versus the Cincinnati Reds. After a 6-1 win Tuesday, in Wednesday’s matchup, Cleveland powered out a 5-2 win with three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

As a starter in the Friday game, the Guardians are sending out Joey Cantillo. So far Cantillo is 2-3 with a 4.63 ERA in the first eight games (seven starts) of his career.

Cleveland Guardians vs Houston Astros Prediction

I’ll try the Guardians in this one. Cantillo is doing well over his last three starts. In that trio, he’s 2-0 with 16.1 innings total, two earned runs, eight hits and four walks. As for Blanco, he’s 2-0 over his last pair with 12.0 innings, two earned runs, 11 hits, and four walks. We should have a fun starter matchup here if both guys are on point.

Cleveland is scoring quite well lately. In six of the last seven games, they’ve plated three or more runs, going 5-2 in that time. Another decent offensive outing Friday and the Guardians will start off the final regular-season series with a bang.
