The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Cleveland Guardians meet Tuesday in MLB action from Progressive Field. The Dodgers just finished up a weekend series versus the Marlins. LA took two of three in that set for the series victory. As for Cleveland, they’re coming off a series versus the Tigers, losing three of four games. Los Angeles Dodgers 

The Dodgers were blown out by the Marlins in the Friday opener of their weekend set 11-3, but the other two games went better. Those turned into wins 3-1 in each of the doubleheader matchups. In Saturday’s nightcap, the Dodgers offense was driven by Mookie Betts, who had two solo homers among the team’s tepid five hits. 

In the starter slot for the Tuesday game it’ll be LA’s Bobby Miller. This year in 14 starts Miller is 7-2 with a 3.70 ERA and 70 Ks in 75.1 innings. Miller is 3-1 with a 3.16 ERA in his last seven starts.

In Sunday’s defeat, Cleveland’s Ramon Laureano posted the lone RBI with a 1-for-4 outing. Steven Kwan had one hit and a run among the team’s four hits. 

It’ll be Noah Syndergaard in the starter slot for the Guardians on Tuesday. Across his 16 starts this year Syndergaard is 2-6 with a 6.57 ERA and 49 Ks in 76.2 innings. Syndergaard is 0-1 in his last three with a 10.93 ERA and 17 earned in 14.0 innings.

I’ve got to stay with the Dodgers in this one. Los Angeles should get a good outing from Miller, who has given up just two earned runs in his last three starts over 15.2 innings on 11 hits and six walks. Conversely, Syndergaard is struggling these days with 11 earned over his last 16.0 innings on 23 hits and four walks in three starts. The Dodgers have been a bit tepid on the scoreboard over their last four games however, posting a combined 10 runs in that time. Still, LA has been great on the other side with two or fewer runs allowed in five of their last six. I don’t think the Dodgers will have a ton of trouble here.
