The Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Guardians meet in game two of their three-game set in MLB action from Progressive Field on Saturday.

Rays Fall Flat In Opener

The Tampa Bay Rays had a shot to start the series on a high note but fell short in a 3-2 loss to the Guardians in Friday’s game one. The loss dropped Tampa Bay to 82-53 on the year, sitting 1.5 games back in the AL East race while holding down the top spot in the AL Wild Card hunt. Isaac Paredes leads the Rays with 27 home runs while Jose Siri has 24 home runs with Paredes also chipping in a team-high 84 RBIs while Randy Arozarena has 77 RBIs this season. Yandy Diaz also has a team-high 144 hits with a .324 batting average and a .400 OBP as well on the season. Zack Littell will start for the Rays here and is 3-4 with a 4.45 ERA and 51 strikeouts this season.

Guardians Win Game One

The Cleveland Guardians picked up a much-needed win on Friday to try to close down some space in their playoff races. The win brought the Guardians to 65-70 on the year, sitting 5 games back in the AL Central race and 10.5 games back in the AL Wild Card chase. Jose Ramirez leads the Guardians with 21 home runs along with 71 RBIs while Josh Naylor has a .306 batting average and 79 RBIs. Ramirez also has a .351 OBP and a team-high 32 doubles while Steven Kwan has a team-high 145 hits and 6 triples with 30 doubles as well. Logan Allen will start for the Guardians here and is 6-7 with a 3.61 ERA and 102 strikeouts this season.

Chris’ Pick

I’m sticking with the under here. I just don’t trust either of these teams offensively at the moment, as the Rays are still far less effective on the road and the Guardians have had issues with run production against righties. All in all, I look for a fairly low-scoring game, similar to Friday’s, so give me the under here.
