The Texas Rangers and the Cleveland Indians meet in MLB action from Progressive Field on Wednesday night.
The Texas Rangers will look to build off of a 7-3 win over the Cleveland Indians from Tuesday. DJ Peters led the Rangers with four RBIs including a three-run home run while Nate Lowe went an impressive 5 for 5 at the dish with a three-run home run and a double to cap off the scoring for Texas in the win. Adolis Garcia had two hits with a double and Andy Ibanez had three hits while Isiah Kiner-Falefa chipped in a pair of hits as well. Nick Solak and Jose Trevino each had a base hit as well to finish off Texas’ offense as a team in the win. Taylor Hearn got the win to improve to 3-4 on the year after allowing three runs on five hits while striking out six over five innings of work. Jake Latz will make his major league debut here after posting a 4.98 ERA between AA and AAA this season.
The Cleveland Indians will look to bounce back from their loss at the hands of the Rangers on Tuesday. Yu Chang and Daniel Johnson each had a solo home run while Franmil Reyes added an RBI as well to cap off Cleveland’s scoring as a team in the loss. Oscar Mercado, Amed Rosario and Jose Ramirez each had base hits as well as the Tribe had just six hits as a team in the losing effort. Eli Morgan took the loss, falling to 2-6 on the year after allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out four over 4.1 innings of work. Zach Plesac will start here and is 7-4 with a 4.87 ERA and 69 strikeouts this season.
Texas is 21-54 in their last 75 games overall and 14-45 in their last 59 games as an underdog while the under is 17-5-1 in their last 23 Wednesday games. Cleveland is 48-19 in their last 67 games as a home favorite and 2-7 in their last 9 Wednesday games while the under is 4-1-1 in their last 6 game two matchups.
I honestly have no idea what to make of Jake Latz in a starting role for the Rangers and I’m not trying to back the Indians in their current form, so give me the under. I’m sure the Rangers will keep Latz on a tight leash and I think Plesac can keep the unintimidating offense of the Texas Rangers at bay here.
