The Seattle Mariners and Colorado Rockies meet Friday in MLB game 1 action at Coors Field. Here’s a Mariners vs Rockies prediction.

Mariners Betting Preview

The Mariners look to get back to a .500 record after wins over the Cubs and Reds. The Mariners have scored 17 runs in their last 3 games and 4 or more runs in 5 of their last 10 games. The Mariners are 7-3 this season when scoring 4 or more runs. Mitch Haniger leads the Mariners with 19 hits and 13 RBI, while Julio Rodriguez and Ty France have combined for 31 hits and 9 RBI. Emerson Hancock gets the ball for the Mariners, and he is 1-2 with a 7.98 ERA and 11 strikeouts this season. This will be Hancock’s first career game against the Rockies.

Rockies Betting Preview

The Rockies have lost 5 straight games after losses to the Blue Jays and Phillies. The Rockies have scored 7 runs in their last 3 games and 3 or fewer runs in 6 of their last 8 games. The Rockies are 0-12 this season when scoring 3 or fewer runs. Ryan McMahon leads the Rockies with 26 hits and 11 RBI, while Ezequiel Tovar and Brenton Doyle have combined for 42 hits and 17 RBI. Dakota Hudson gets the ball for the Rockies, and he is 0-3 with a 4.15 ERA and 11 strikeouts this season. This will be Hudson’s first career game against the Mariners.

  • The Mariners have failed to cover the run line in 11 of their last 12 games as favorites against NL West opponents following a home win.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Mariners’ last four games as road favorites against National League opponents.

Mariners vs Rockies prediction

I’m not running to the window to back the Mariners with Emerson Hancock on the mound. Hancock has allowed 19 hits and 13 runs through 14.2 innings. I doubt those numbers are going to improve at Coors Field. With that said, the Rockies have been a bottom five team in MLB this season, and it’s not like Dakota Hudson is lighting the world on fire himself. Hudson has allowed 16 hits and 8 earned runs through 17.1 innings, and he’s had control issues with 6 walks. Two shaky pitchers, but the Mariners are the better team overall. The price is reasonable. Give me the Mariners in this spot if forced to pick.
