In this article we will formulate a Rockies vs Mariners prediction for this MLB game on Saturday, April 20th at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game one in this series.

Rockies Preview

The Colorado Rockies are 4-15 this season and they have lost five games in a row and seven of their last eight. Colorado is coming off of a series loss to the Phillies, where they lost all three games by scores of 7-6, 5-0, and 2-1. Prior to that series, the Rockies lost two out of three against Toronto and Arizona. The Colorado pitching staff has a 6.01 ERA, a 1.66 WHIP, and a .293 opponent batting average. The Rockies offense has scored 76 runs with a .248 batting average and a .314 on base percentage. Ryan McMahon is batting .361 with two home runs and 11 RBI’s for the Rockies. The projected starting pitcher for Colorado is Dakota Hudson, who is 0-3 with a 4.15 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP over 17.1 innings pitched this season.

Mariners Preview

The Seattle Mariners are 9-10 this year and they have won three games in a row and five of their last seven. Seattle is coming off of a series win against the Reds, where they won all three games by scores of 5-1, 3-1, and 9-3. Prior to that series, the Reds lost two out of three against the Cubs and Blue Jays. The Seattle pitching staff has a 3.93 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP, and a .229 opponent batting average. The Mariners offense has scored 66 runs with a .213 batting average and a .301 on base percentage. Mitch Haniger is batting .292 with three home runs and 13 RBI’s for the Mariners. The projected starting pitcher for Seattle is Emerson Hancock, who is 1-2 with a 7.98 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP over 14.2 innings pitched this year.

Colorado Rockies Team Facts

  • The Rockies have won five of their last six games as home underdogs following a road loss.
  • The Rockies have covered the run line in each of their last six games as home underdogs following a road loss.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Rockies’ last three home games.
  • The Rockies have trailed after 5 innings in each of their last five night games against AL West opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Rockies have trailed after 3 innings in each of their last five games.

Seattle Mariners Team Facts

  • The Mariners have lost four of their last five games as road favorites against National League opponents following a win.
  • The Mariners have failed to cover the run line in 11 of their last 12 games as favorites against NL West opponents following a home win.
  • The Mariners have led after 3 innings in each of their last three road games against NL West opponents.
  • The Mariners have lost the first inning in three of their last four games as road favorites against National League opponents.
  • The Mariners have led after 5 innings in each of their last seven games as road favorites.

Rockies vs Mariners Prediction

Colorado comes into this matchup as one of the worst teams in the MLB and they have the worst team ERA in all of baseball. The Rockies only have four wins on the season and they have scored one run or fewer in three of their last four games. Seattle hasn’t been their best to open the season, but they did sweep the Reds earlier this week and held them to only five runs in the series. The Mariners are starting Emerson Hancock, who has allowed 13 earned runs and 19 hits over 14.2 innings pitched. It is important to note that eight of those earned runs and 11 of the hits came in one outing. The Rockies are starting Dakota Hudson, who has allowed eight earned runs and 12 hits over 12.0 innings in his last two starts. I expect to see plenty of runs in this game with these two pitchers on the mound, but I am going to take the Rockies here. I think the pitching matchup is relatively even and Seattle hasn’t been very good on the road. Take Colorado in this game.
