The Reds took on the Cardinals over the weekend, losing two of three games. In Sunday’s 7-1 win, Cincinnati got home runs from four different players including Joey Votto (two RBI). On Tuesday versus Detroit, the Reds came back from an early 3-0 deficit and eventually broke through in 10 innings with a 6-5 win. Harrison Bader (two hits) and Jonathan India each had two RBI in the victory.
In the starter role for Wednesday’s game, the Reds will send out Connor Phelps. In his lone start this year (the first of his career) Phelps put up 4.2 innings with five earned on six hits and two walks with seven Ks.

Eduardo Rodriguez will take the mound for Detroit on Wednesday in the start. Over 22 starts so far Rodriguez is 11-7 with a 3.18 ERA and 127 Ks in 130.1 innings. In his last seven starts Rodriguez is 5-2 with a 3.64 ERA.

I’ll probably stay with the Tigers. It’ll be interesting to see what Phelps can do in his return to the mound, though. As for Rodriguez, he’s 2-0 over his last two starts with 12.2 combined innings, four earned, 10 hits and six walks. Rodriguez should be able to keep it going here. In the Tuesday matchup, Detroit got into some early trouble and had to dig out of a hole. The offense was pretty good overall, though; that makes three or more runs in five of the last six games for the Tigers. I think they’ll keep it up in game two.
