The Colorado Rockies and the Houston Astros meet Tuesday in MLB action from Minute Maid Park. The Rockies played Detroit over the weekend and lost two of three games. As for Houston, their last set was against the Rangers. After wins in two of the first three games, on Monday the Astros powered out a dramatic victory. Colorado Rockies 

The Rockies managed an 8-5 win over the Tigers back on Friday but then fell 4-2 and 14-9 in the weekend games. On Sunday in the finale, starter Connor Seabold lasted 5.0 innings with eight earned on seven hits and a walk. 

Kyle Freeland will make the start for the Rockies on Tuesday. In his 17 starts this year Freeland is 4-8 with a 4.88 ERA and 60 Ks in 90.1 innings. Freeland is 53-59 with a 4.33 ERA in 172 career games (167 starts). 

Houston Astros 

Over on the Astros’ side, they lost 5-2 to Texas in game two but otherwise won two of the first three by a 5-3 score. On Monday Houston blew an early 10-2 lead but eventually powered out a 12-11 win. Starting pitcher Cristian Javier ended up with eight earned on nine hits in 4.1 frames. 

In the starter role for Tuesday’s game, the Astros are going with Brandon Bielak. In his nine games (eight starts) this year Bielak is 3-4 with a 4.37 ERA and 37 strikeouts over 47.1 innings. Bielak is 9-11 with a 4.89 ERA in 54 career games (16 starts). 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stay with Houston here. Freeland has been struggling a bit lately. He’s got a combined 16 earned runs in his last 14.1 innings over three starts, giving up 22 hits and 10 walks for an 0-1 record in that time. Houston should have some early opportunities at the plate. On Monday the Astros blew a huge lead but the team had just enough presence to finish off the win. The pen was solid on 4.2 innings and one earned run, so another performance like that would go a long way in this opener.
