New York trailed 4-0 in the second inning, but their pitching staff shut the Astros down after that. The Yankees scored three runs in the fifth, had a home run from Cabrera in the 6th, and a Verdugo sacrifice fly in the seventh to complete the comeback. New York had eight hits, but they did draw nine walks in the game. Cortes pitched five innings, allowing four earned runs on five hits. The projected starting pitcher for New York in this game is Carlos Rodon, who was 3-8 with a 6.85 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP over 64.1 innings pitched last season. The Yankees will face the Diamondbacks after this series.

Astros Preview

The Houston Astros are 0-1 this year after they lost to New York in Game 1 by a score of 5-4. The Astros led 4-0 in the second inning, but their bats went silent the rest of the way for the loss. Yankees vs Astros Betting Prediction

New York was able to get the dramatic win in Game 1 of this series on Thursday, but Houston’s offense was able to make plenty of contact on the New York pitching staff. Houston’s lineup is very dangerous and even though they didn’t score any runs in the final seven innings, I still like them more than New York’s. New York is going with Rodon on the mound in this game, but he is coming off of a very rough season in 2023. Javier was pretty inconsistent in 2023, but I will take him over Rodon. Take the Astros here.
