The Baltimore Orioles and the Kansas City Royals meet Saturday in MLB action from Kauffman Stadium. Here’s an Orioles vs Royals prediction. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Baltimore Orioles Betting Preview

The Orioles took on the Minnesota Twins this week and did very well. Baltimore took a three-game sweep in those outings. On Friday versus Kansas City, Baltimore coughed up five runs in the sixth inning and ended up falling 9-4. Dean Kremer went 5.2 innings in the start with three earned on three walks and two hits.

In the starter slot for the Saturday game the O’s will send out Corbin Burnes. This year in his four starts Burnes is 2-0 with a 2.28 ERA and 25 Ks in 23.2 innings. Burnes is 47-27 with a 3.23 ERA in 171 games (110 starts) over his career.

Kansas City Royals Betting Preview

Over on the Royals’ side, they took on the Chicago White Sox in their last series and won two of three games. On Friday Kansas City got home runs from Vinnie Pasquantino (three runs) and MJ Melendez (two runs; four RBI) in the victory. Alec Marsh finished on 5.2 innings with three hits, two walks and no earned in the start.

It’ll be Cole Ragans in the starter role for the Royals in the Saturday matchup. Across his four starts so far Ragans is 0-1 with a 1.93 ERA and 29 Ks in 23.1 innings. Ragans has a career mark of 7-9 with a 3.62 ERA in 42 games (25 starts).

  • The Royals have led after 3 innings in six of their last seven games as underdogs against AL East opponents.
  • The Royals have won the first inning in each of their last three Saturday night games as underdogs.
  • The Royals have led after 7 innings in five of their last six games as underdogs against American League opponents.

Baltimore Orioles Team Facts

  • The home team has covered the run line in each of the Orioles’ last five games.
  • The Orioles have trailed after 7 innings in four of their last five games as road favorites against AL Central opponents.
  • The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Orioles’ last five Saturday night games at Kauffman Stadium.
  • The Orioles have trailed after 5 innings in each of their last five night games against opponents that held a winning record.

Orioles vs Royals Prediction

I’ll probably just stay with the Orioles here. Baltimore should get a good outing from Burnes on Saturday. In his last three starts combined, Burnes is 1-0 with five earned runs in 17.2 innings of work. As for Ragans, he had a bit of a shaky outing versus the Astros (5.0 innings; three earned; 10 hits) but he’s also coming off 6.0 clean frames versus the Mets in his last start.

On Friday the O’s only had success against one KC pitcher (four earned off Will Smith), bagging just four hits against the other quartet of arms. Outside of Adley Rutschman it was a pretty quiet night at the plate. Baltimore is going to need a better game all around on Saturday, but I think they’ll improve.
