The Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Royals meet in an AL Central division matchup in MLB action from Kauffman Stadium on Saturday.
The Chicago White Sox will try to rebound from a 7-2 loss at the hands of the Royals on Friday. Leury Garcia and Gavin Sheets each had an RBI to make up the scoring for Chicago in the loss with Garcia going 2 for 4 at the dish in the loss. Jose Abreu, Eloy Jimenez and Yoan Moncada each had a base hit as well as the White Sox had just six hits as a team in the losing effort. Dallas Keuchel took the loss, falling to 8-8 on the year after allowing five earned runs on seven hits over three innings of work. Reynaldo Lopez will start here and is 3-1 with a 1.54 ERA and 37 strikeouts this season.
The Kansas City Royals will look to add to their win over the White Sox from Friday. Michael A. Taylor had three hits with three RBIs while Adalberto Mondesi added two RBIs and Andrew Benintendi fell a home run shy of the cycle with a triple, a double and an RBI of his own. Carlos Santana and Salvador Perez each had two hits while Edward Olivares added a base hit as well to finish off KC’s offense as a team in the victory. Carlos Hernandez got the win to improve to 5-1 on the year after allowing two runs on five hits while walking and whiffing three apiece over six innings of work. Daniel Lynch will start here and is 4-3 with a 4.47 ERA and 40 strikeouts this season.
Chicago is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 89-40 in their last 129 games as a favorite while the over is 6-2-1 in their last 9 Saturday games. Kansas City is 4-10 in their last 14 Saturday games and 9-4 in their last 13 games as an underdog while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall.
This is a bit of an intriguing matchup as the Royals have really taken to playing the role of spoiler while the White Sox have work to do and are the better team in this one. With that said, These are two starters in Lopez and Lynch who have done well as of late in terms of limiting damage and I just think that this could end up being a pitcher’s duel.
