In this article we will formulate a LA Dodgers vs Miami Marlins prediction for this MLB game on Monday, May 6th at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game one in this series.

Dodgers Leading the NL West

The LA Dodgers are 23-13 this season and they have won four games in a row. Los Angeles is coming off of a series win against the Braves, where they won all three games and scored 20 runs in three games. Prior to that series, the Dodgers won two out of three against Arizona, two out of three against Toronto, and swept Washington in three games. LA has been dominant over the past two weeks and they are leading the NL West by 5.5 games over the Padres.

The LA pitching staff has a 3.35 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP, and a .215 opponent batting average. The Dodgers offense has scored 197 runs with a .273 batting average and a .355 on base percentage. Shohei Ohtani is batting .364 with 10 home runs and 25 RBI’s for the Dodgers this season. LA is sixth in team ERA and first in runs scored in the MLB, and they have scored at least four runs in seven of their last nine games.

Marlins Have Some Momentum

The Miami Marlins are 10-26 this year and they have won four of their last six games. Miami is coming off of a series loss against Oakland, where they lost two out of three games and were out scored 26-17 in the series. Prior to that series, Miami swept Colorado in three games, but were swept by the Nationals and Braves before that. Miami has finally hit the 10 win mark on the season, but they are dead last in the NL East behind the Phillies, Braves, Nationals, and Mets.

The Miami pitching staff has a 5.12 ERA, a 1.48 WHIP, and a .260 opponent batting average. The Marlins offense has scored 137 runs with a .228 batting average and a .287 on base percentage. Bryan De La Cruz is batting .264 with six home runs and 18 RBI’s for the Marlins this season. Miami has the 29th ranked team ERA in the MLB, but that number was blown out after allowing 20 runs to Oakland on Saturday. The Marlins are 21st in runs scored and they have scored at least four runs in seven of their last nine games.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for Miami is Roddery Munoz, who is 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA and a 0.73 WHIP over 11.0 innings pitched this season. Munoz has allowed three earned runs and five hits over 11.0 innings in two starts against the Rockies and Cubs. The projected starting pitcher for LA is Walker Buehler, who is making his first appearance of the season. Buehler hasn’t pitched in the MLB since June 10, 2022 and he had a rough time in six rehab starts, so it is tough to know what we will see here.

Why the Los Angeles Dodgers will win

  • Probable Starting Pitcher: Walker Buehler Record this season: – ERA: –
  • The Marlins have lost each of their last nine night games against National League opponents that held a winning record.
  • The Dodgers have won each of their last seven games against NL East opponents.
  • The Marlins have failed to cover the run line in each of their last nine games as road underdogs following a win.
  • The Dodgers have covered the run line in five of their last six night games against teams that held a losing record.
  • The Dodgers have led after 5 innings in each of their last five games against NL East opponents.

Why the Miami Marlins will win

  • Probable Starting Pitcher: Roddery Munoz Record this season: 1-0 ERA: 2.45
  • The Marlins have won four of their last five games against NL West opponents.
  • The Dodgers have lost four of their last five home games against teams that held a losing record.
  • The Dodgers have failed to cover the run line in eight of their last nine home games against teams that held a losing record.
  • The Marlins have covered the run line in five of their last six night games against the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium following a win.

Total Runs Facts

  • Each of the Marlins’ last five road games against NL West opponents have gone UNDER the total runs line.
  • Four of the Dodgers’ last five games have gone UNDER the total runs line.
  • The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Marlins’ last six games as underdogs against NL West opponents.
  • The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the last three games between the Marlins and Dodgers.

LA Dodgers vs Miami Marlins Prediction

The LA Dodgers come into this game dealing with quite a few injuries to their pitching staff, but they are red hot right now and they have won 11 of their last 13 games. Miami only has 10 wins on the season, but they are playing better over their last two series. Munoz has been pretty solid for Miami in his first two starts, but I am interested to see how Buehler looks after a very lengthy absence. There is almost no value with the Dodgers in this game, even on the run line, but I think Munoz can give the Marlins a chance here, especially with Buehler being an unknown. My LA Dodgers vs Miami Marlins prediction is for the Marlins to get the win.
