The Oakland A’s and the Los Angeles Angels meet in an AL West division matchup in MLB action from Angel Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Oakland A’s will look to rebound after a 13-4 loss to the New York Mets in Sunday’s series finale. Sheldon Neuse has 58 hits with 26 RBIs and a .214 batting average while Sean Murphy has 130 hits with 37 doubles and 18 home runs with 66 RBIs. Seth Brown’s also got a team-high of 25 home runs and 66 RBIs with 26 doubles as well this season. James Kaprielian will start here and is 4-9 with a 4.43 ERA and 86 strikeouts this season.

The Los Angeles Angels will try to keep the ball rolling after their series win over Minnesota with a 10-3 win in Sunday’s rubber match against the Twins. Mike Trout has 113 hits, 24 doubles, 77 RBIs and 37 home runs while Jared Walsh has 44 RBIs and Shohei Ohtani has 149 hits while adding 28 doubles, 34 home runs and 93 RBIs. Taylor Ward also has a .272 batting average as well this season. Patrick Sandoval will start this one and is 6-9 with a 3.01 ERA and 141 strikeouts this season.

Oakland is 7-16 in their last 23 games overall and 5-2 in their last 7 games following a loss while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Los Angeles is 5-2 in their last 7 home games and 3-8 in their last 11 games following a win while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall.

I get the reasoning for backing the A’s as they’ve been a lot better on the road over the course of the season, but the problem for me is that they’re still the Oakland A’s and are just playing out the string in year one of a lengthy rebuild. Los Angeles has the talent in the lineup and had they not hit the skids a couple of times this season, this could still be a team that’s in the wild card race. I think the Angels just have a lot more going for them here, including the better starting pitcher in Patrick Sandoval, and as such, I’ll back the Halos for the win here.
