The Texas Rangers and the Seattle Mariners meet Wednesday in MLB action from T-Mobile Park. This will be the finale in a three-game series. Texas eked out a win in the opener, then on Tuesday in game two Seattle evened it up with a shutout victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Texas Rangers

Texas trailed 1-0 for most of the Monday opener, but then notched two runs in the seventh for a 2-1 comeback win. On Tuesday the Rangers couldn’t find any runs on seven team hits in a 5-0 loss. Starter Andrew Heaney lasted 6.2 innings with three earned on four hits and two walks.

For the starter gig in the Wednesday finale the Rangers are sending out Dane Dunning. Over nine games (one start) this year Dunning is 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA and 14 Ks in 25.1 innings. Dunning is 13-18 with a 4.20 career ERA in 72 games (62 starts).

Seattle Mariners

Over on the Mariners’ side, they posted just four team hits (to Texas’ four) in the Monday loss. On Tuesday Seattle scored twice in both the third and seventh innings during the victory. Starting pitcher George Kirby put up 7.0 frames with six hits, no walks and nine Ks.

Luis Castillo will take the mound for the start on Wednesday. Over his seven starts this year Castillo is 2-0 with a 2.38 ERA and 43 Ks in 41.2 innings. Castillo has a career record of 50-55 with a 3.53 ERA in 155 starts.

The Rangers are 16-35 in their last 51 Wednesday games and the under is 12-5 in their last 17 road games versus a right-handed starter.

Meanwhile, the Mariners are 14-6 in their last 20 Wednesday games and the under is 9-3 in their last 12 in game three of a series.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably take a stab on the Mariners. Castillo needs a bit of help from the offense, though. Over his last three starts combined, Castillo has given up nine earned on 18 hits and five walks over 17.0 innings but hasn’t gotten a decision in any of those matchups. On Tuesday Seattle had a pretty nice game on both sides, despite a relatively tepid six-hit total. Still, if the Mariners can keep that momentum going in the rubber match they’ll be in great shape to take the series.

Andrew's Free Pick: Seattle Mariners -190
