In this article we will formulate a Mets vs Braves prediction for this MLB game on Tuesday, August 12th at Citi Field in New York. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this MLB matchup.

New York Mets Betting Preview

The New York Mets are 63-55 this season after they lost all three against Milwaukee by scores of 2-3, 4-7, and 6-7. In their game three loss, New York led 5-0 in the fourth inning and 6-3 in the fifth, but they failed to score over the last three innings for the bad loss. The Mets recorded 10 hits in the game and they were led by Mullins and Baty, who both had solo home runs in the loss. New York started Manaea, who allowed six hits and four earned runs over 4.0 innings, while Diaz picked up the loss in the ninth.

Prior to that series, the Mets lost all three against the Guardians and two out of three against the Giants. New York has lost 11 of their last 12 games and they are currently second in the NL East standings. The New York pitching staff has a 3.70 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP and a .240 opponent batting average, while the offense has scored 513 runs with a .239 batting average and a .318 on base percentage this season. Pete Alonso has led New York with 26 home runs and 93 RBIs, while Juan Soto has added 28 home runs and 67 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for New York is Clay Holmes, who is 9-6 with a 3.46 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP over 122.1 innings pitched this season.

Atlanta Braves Betting Preview

The Atlanta Braves are 51-67 this year after they won four out of five against Miami by scores of 8-6, 1-5, 7-1, 8-6, and 7-1. In their game five win, Atlanta trailed 1-0 in the second inning, but they scored the last seven runs to pull away with the easy win. The Braves recorded nine hits and they committed one error in the game, while they were led by Ozuna, who went 1-3 with one home run and three RBIs in the win. Atlanta started Wentz, who allowed four hits and one earned run over 5.1 innings for the win, while Hernandez and Lee picked up holds.

Prior to that series, the Braves lost all three against the Brewers, but did win two out of three against the Reds before that. Atlanta has won four of their last five games and they are currently fourth in the NL East standings. The Atlanta pitching staff has a 4.21 ERA with a 1.28 WHIP and a .241 opponent batting average, while their offense has scored 499 runs with a .242 batting average and a .318 on base percentage this year. Matt Olson has led Atlanta with 19 home runs and 70 RBIs, while Sean Murphy has added 16 home runs and 43 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Atlanta is Spencer Strider, who is 5-9 with a 4.04 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP over 82.1 innings pitched this year.

Mets vs Braves Prediction

New York limps into this matchup desperately needing a win, as they are falling way behind in the race for the NL East. The Mets are 38-21 at home this year, while the Braves are 21-37 on the road. Atlanta does have some momentum coming into this series and they are starting Strider, who has allowed 5, 2, and 3 earned runs in his last three starts. The Mets are going with Holmes, who has allowed two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five starts. I know they are struggling, but I have to side with the Mets at home here.
