The Washington Nationals and the Miami Marlins meet Saturday in MLB action from Marlins Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game weekend series. In the Friday opener, the Marlins posted a three-run win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Washington played the Braves this week, falling in the first pair before a Wednesday win. On Friday against Miami, the Nationals gave up three runs in the sixth during a 5-2 loss. Starter Josiah Gray put up 6.0 innings with four earned on eight hits and a walk.

For the starter job in the Saturday game the Nationals will go with Erick Fedde. In his 24 starts this year Fedde is 6-10 with a 5.29 ERA. In 114.0 innings total he has 67 earned on 124 hits and 54 walks with 86 Ks.

Over on the Marlins’ side, they played the Cubs this week and lost two of the three games. In the Friday matchup Miami managed nine team hits in the victory. Braxton Garrett went 6.0 innings in the start with one earned and five hits.

Sandy Alcantara will take the mound for the Marlins on Saturday. Over his 30 starts this year Alcantara is 13-8 with a 2.37 ERA. In 212.2 innings he’s managed 56 earned on 166 hits and 49 walks with 188 Ks.

The Nats are 23-49 in their last 72 overall and 14-37 in their last 51 Saturday games. Washington is 1-4 in their last five in game two of a series.

Meanwhile, the Marlins are 7-19 in the last 26 in game two of a series and 3-13 in their last 16 Saturday games. The under is 7-1-2 in Miami’s last 10 Saturday games.

PICK: I’m going to stay Miami here, but probably not touching it. Alcantara is having a pretty solid month despite a tepid 1-1 record over his last three starts. In that trio, Alcantara has six earned on 23 hits and two walks in 22.0 innings combined. As for Fedde, he’s stumbled a bit over his last pair with seven earned in 7.2 innings. I like Alcantara to keep it going here and put Miami in a good spot.
