The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Wednesday in MLB action from American Family Field. This will be the finale in a three-game series. Arizona Diamondbacks 

The Diamondbacks scored six runs in the first inning of Monday’s opener, cruising to a 9-1 blowout victory. On Tuesday in game two Arizona blew an early 4-0 lead and ended up falling 7-5. Starter Ryne Nelson finished with 5.0 innings, three earned, six hits and no walks. 

For the starter job in the Wednesday matchup the Diamondbacks will go with Zac Gallen. Over his 15 starts this year Gallen is 8-2 with a 2.96 ERA and 100 Ks in 91.1 innings. Gallen is 30-24 with a 3.07 ERA in 96 career starts. 

Milwaukee Brewers 

Over on the Milwaukee side, they could only muster three hits (to Arizona’s 11) in the Monday game. On Tuesday the Brewers bagged four runs in the seventh to pull away for good. Colin Rea managed 5.1 innings in the start with four earned on seven hits and a walk. 

It’ll be Julio Teheran in the starting role for the Brewers on Wednesday. Across his five starts this year Teheran is 2-2 with a 1.78 ERA and 20 Ks in 30.1 innings. Teheran is 80-79 with a 3.76 ERA over 245 career games (241 starts). 

The Diamondbacks are 15-6 in their last 21 overall and 10-4 in their last 14 Wednesday games. The under is 4-1 in Arizona’s last five Wednesday games. 

Meanwhile, the Brewers are 3-7 in their last 10 overall and the under is 5-1-1 in their last seven in game three of a series. The under is 4-1 in Milwaukee’s last five Wednesday games.

I’ll probably stay with the Brewers here. We should have a fun starter matchup on tap regardless, though. Teheran has just five earned over 19.1 innings in his last three starts combined. As for Gallen, he’s coming off a nice effort versus Cleveland, giving up one earned over 7.0 innings in a victory. On Tuesday Milwaukee started pretty slow but ended up getting a big lift from the bullpen on 3.2 innings, three hits, one walk and five Ks. The Brewers should have another good shot at a W in the finale if all goes well.
