The Oakland Athletics and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Sunday in MLB action from American Family Field. This will be the finale in a three-game series over the weekend. Oakland Athletics 

The A’s scored four runs in the first two innings of the Friday opener, eventually powering out a 5-2 win. On Saturday Oakland got seven team hits in a 2-1 win. Starting pitcher Paul Blackburn put up 6.0 clean frames with four hits and a walk. 

For the starter job on Sunday the A’s will go with JP Sears. In his 12 starts this year Sears is 0-3 with a 4.20 ERA and 60 Ks in 64.1 innings. Sears is 6-6 with a 4.02 ERA in 29 career games (23 starts). 

Milwaukee Brewers 

Over on the Milwaukee side, they managed just four hits in the Friday opener loss. In the Saturday game two the Brewers had six hits in a tough loss. Julio Teheran managed 7.0 innings in the start with one earned on six hits and a walk. 

It’ll be Freddy Peralta in the starting role for the Brewers on Sunday. Over his 12 starts this year Peralta is 5-5 with a 4.55 ERA and 70 strikeouts over 65.1 innings. Peralta is 35-22 with a 3.92 career ERA in 128 games (79 starts). 

The A’s are 20-41 in their last 61 in game three of a series and 21-48 in their last 69 road games versus a right-handed starter. Oakland is 0-5 in the last five Sunday games. 

Meanwhile, the Brewers are 5-0 in their last five Sunday games and 1-5 in their last six versus a lefty starter. The under is 4-0-1 in Milwaukee’s last five in game three of a series. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll stick with the Brewers. Peralta had a sketchy start versus the Giants late last month (2.1 innings; four earned) but since then he’s turned it around a bit on five earned in 11.0 innings over his last pair. Peralta is just 0-2 in his last three starts, though. On Saturday the Brewers pitching staff was pretty perfect (outside of one earned) and I like Milwaukee to recover here. So long as the offense steps up, that is.
