The Chicago White Sox and the Minnesota Twins meet Thursday in MLB action from Target Field. This will be the finale in a three-game series. Chicago could only muster two hits in the Tuesday opener of this set, eventually falling 4-0. On Wednesday in game two, the Sox gave up three runs in the second inning on the way to an 8-4 loss. Johnny Cueto went 5.2 innings with 10 hits, six earned, one walk and seven Ks in the start.
Starter for Chicago on Thursday will be Lucas Giolito. In his 28 starts so far Giolito is 10-9 with a 5.05 ERA. In 149.2 innings total he has 84 earned on 165 hits and 56 walks with 167 Ks.

Louie Varland will take the mound for the Twins on Thursday. In his three starts so far Varland is 0-2 with a 5.06 ERA. In 16.0 innings he has nine earned on 19 hits and four walks with 13 Ks.
The Sox are 7-19 in their last 26 Thursday games and the under is 12-4-3 in their last 19 in game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the Twins are 1-5 in their last six in game three of a series and 3-10 in their last 13 Thursday games. Minnesota is 10-3 in their last 13 at home versus a team with a losing record.
PICK: I’m staying with the Sox. Giolito has been decent over his last few outings. In his most recent trio, he’s got seven combined earned on 15 hits and six walks in 16.2 innings. As for Varland, he’s struggled over his first few starts with nine earned in 16.0 innings. The good news for Varland however is that he’s gone at least 5.0 frames in each start. Chicago should have some early opportunities to score in this one, though.
