The Seattle Mariners and the Minnesota Twins meet Monday in MLB action from Target Field. Here’s a Minnesota Twins vs Seattle Mariners prediction. This will be the first installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Seattle Mariners Betting Preview

The Mariners are fresh off a weekend series versus the Houston Astros. Seattle took a 5-3 loss in the Friday opener of that series, then evened it up with a 5-0 win in game two. In the Sunday rubber match the Mariners eked out a 5-4 win with 10 team hits. Both Cal Raleigh and Luke Raley (two runs) had a solo home run in the victory.

In the starting pitcher slot for the Monday game, the Mariners are going with Luis Castillo. This year Castillo is 3-4 with a 3.46 ERA in seven starts, striking out 49 batters in 41.2 innings. Castillo is 65-68 with a 3.54 ERA in 188 career starts. The Mariners will take on the A’s following this series.

Minnesota Twins Betting Preview

Over on the Twins’ side, they’re coming off a set versus the Red Sox. Minnesota similarly split the first pair of weekend games 5-2 (loss) and 3-1 (win). On Sunday the Twins gave up four runs in the eighth inning along the way to a 9-2 loss. Joe Ryan gave up three earned on four hits and one walk in 6.0 innings during the start.

As starter for Monday’s matchup, Minnesota is sending out Simeon Woods Richardson. This year Richardson is 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA in three starts. He has 13 Ks in 14.2 innings total. Richardson has a 1-1 record and a 4.07 ERA over five career games (four starts). The Twins will play against the Blue Jays and Mets after this series.

Mariners vs Twins Injury Notes

Mariners SP Bryan Woo (elbow) posted six strikeouts and three hits with no walks in five shutout innings during his third rehab start with Triple-A Tacoma over the weekend.

Twins RP Justin Topa (knee) made a pair of appearances with Triple-A St. Paul over the weekend.

Minnesota Twins vs Seattle Mariners Prediction

I’ll probably stay with the Twins. Richardson went just 3.2 innings in his last outing, but he only gave up one earned run on seven hits and two walks. In his two starts prior to that Richardson managed three earned on nine hits and two walks in 11.0 frames total.

On Sunday in their finale versus the Red Sox, the Twins had some bad defensive miscues and didn’t get a great performance out of the bullpen. The good news is that there were some solid performances at the plate, though. Three different players had multiple hits. Minnesota needs a good bounce-back effort on the mound Monday, but I think they’re up for it.
