The Yankees scored three runs in the ninth inning in Friday’s opener on the way to a 6-2 victory. In the Saturday game two, New York came back from a 4-1 deficit and eventually powered out a 7-4 win. Starter Jhony Brito finished with 4.0 innings, four earned, four hits and four walks.
For the starter job in the Sunday finale it’ll be the Yankees’ Luis Severino. This will be Severino’s season debut. In his 122 career games (107 starts), Severino is 50-29 with a 3.39 ERA and 709 Ks.
Cincinnati Reds
Over on the Reds’ side, they posted a couple runs in the sixth inning during Friday’s opener but otherwise couldn’t find the scoreboard. On Saturday Cincinnati was out-hit 13-5 in the defeat. Luke Weaver put up 4.1 frames in the start with four earned on eight hits.
Hunter Greene will take the mound for the start on Sunday for the Reds. Over his nine starts this year Greene is 0-3 with a 4.60 ERA and 59 Ks in 43.0 innings. Greene is 5-16 with a 4.48 ERA in 33 career starts.
The Yankees are 10-4 in their last 14 in game three of a series and 56-26 in their last 82 versus the NL Central. New York is 0-4 in their last four Sunday games.

I’ll try the Yankees here, but I’m probably staying away. It’ll be interesting to see what Severino can do in his season debut, though. As for Greene, he’s been a mixed bag lately. Over his last three starts combined Greene is 0-2 with 13 earned runs in 15.0 innings total. In the Saturday game, New York had a nice bullpen effort with 6.0 innings, one hit, no earned, two walks and eight strikeouts.
