The Minnesota Twins and the New York Yankees meet in MLB action from Yankee Stadium on Monday.
The Minnesota Twins will look to build on their 5-1 win over the White Sox in Sunday’s series finale. Luis Arraez has 144 hits including a team-high 24 doubles while also posting a .317 batting average. Byron Buxton also has 76 hits with a team-high 28 home runs and 51 RBIs and Gary Sanchez has 20 doubles this season. Jorge Polanco has 88 hits and 56 RBIs and Max Kepler has 43 RBIs as well on the year, while Carlos Correa’s also added 110 hits. Chris Archer will start here and is 2-7 with a 4.52 ERA and 81 strikeouts this season.
The New York Yankees will try to build on their 2-1 win over Tampa Bay in Sunday’s series finale. Aaron Judge leads the Yankees with 53 home runs and 115 RBIs along with 144 hits and a .299 batting average in addition to 21 doubles while Gleyber Torres has 22 doubles and DJ LeMahieu has 18 doubles of his own. Anthony Rizzo also has 19 doubles so far this season, in addition to logging 30 home runs and 71 RBIs. Jameson Taillon will start here and is 12-4 with a 3.97 ERA and 117 strikeouts this season.
Minnesota is 5-2 in their last 7 series-opening games and 1-11 in their last 12 road games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-0-1 in their last 5 Monday games. New York is 42-17 in their last 59 home games and 1-6 in their last 7 games overall while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 home games against a team with a right-handed starter.
I get the case to be made for either side in this one, but I’m looking at the under here. I don’t really trust this pitching matchup between Taillon and Archer, but the offenses and run production on both sides has been so bad, that it could actually make the starting pitching look good in this one. Not my favorite game on the board on Monday, but I’d go over here.
