The Texas Rangers and the New York Yankees meet Sunday in MLB doubleheader action from Yankee Stadium. Game one will be a makeup of Friday’s scheduled opener. The Rangers and Yankees haven’t had much luck with weather this weekend; the Saturday game was postponed as well. That one will be made up on Monday. Texas played a couple of games versus the Phillies in their last set. The Rangers managed wins in that pair 6-4 and 2-1. Texas is sitting on a four-game winning streak.

For the game one Sunday starter, the Rangers will go with Dane Dunning. This was originally going to be Jon Gray, but he’ll now pitch in the Monday game.

As for game two, it’s looking like it’ll be Glenn Otto. In two starts this season so far Otto is 1-0 with a 2.89 ERA.

Over on the Yankees’ side, they played the Blue Jays in their last series. New York posted wins 3-2 Monday and 9-1 on Tuesday. In the Wednesday finale the Yankees lost 2-1, however.

Sunday game one Yankees starter will be Gerrit Cole. Originally, Cole was supposed to start back on Friday but he’s been pushed back twice. Cole is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA and 27 Ks so far.

In game two, the Yankees are going with Jordan Montgomery. Over his five starts so far Montgomery is 0-1 with a 2.88 ERA. He’s got eight earned and 20 Ks in 25.0 innings.

The Rangers are 4-0 in their last four overall and 21-44 in their last 65 in game one of a series. Texas is 16-38 in their last 54 road games versus a lefty starter.

Meanwhile, the Yankees are 4-0 in their last four versus the AL West and 7-0 in their last seven at home. New York is 20-8 in their last 28 in game one of a series

GAME 1 PICK: I’m going to try New York in game one. Dunning has only given up three earned in 13.1 innings over his last two starts though, so he should be okay. As for Cole, he’s been sitting around for three days waiting on his start but should be just fine.
GAME 2 PICK: I’ll take a stab on the Yankees for game two as well. Montgomery as been more reliable lately, with five earned in 16.2 total frames per his last trio. If New York can get him a few runs I like the Yankees’ chances in the nightcap.
