Kansas City Royals Betting Preview

The Royals are coming off a series versus the Houston Astros this week. Kansas City posted wins in the first two games 4-3 and 11-2. On Thursday the Royals scored a whopping nine runs in the first inning on the way to a dominant 13-3 win. Starting pitcher Brady Singer put up 5.0 innings with one earned run on five hits and two walks.

In the starter role for the Friday matchup, Kansas City is sending out Michael Wacha. In two starts this year Wacha is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 13 Ks in 12.0 innings. Wacha is 89-54 in his MLB career with a 3.95 ERA in 251 games (230 starts).

New York Mets Betting Preview

Over on the Mets’ side, they’re fresh off a set versus the Atlanta Braves. New York split the first pair with a win 8-7 and a loss 6-5. In the Thursday rubber match the Mets scored four runs in both the third and ninth innings in a great 16-4 blowout win. Tyrone Taylor had four RBI, and Jeff McNeil added three RBI with two runs and two hits.

It’ll be Luis Severino on the mound for the start Friday. Across his two starts this year Severino is 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA and 13 Ks in 10.0 innings. Severino is 54-38 in his MLB career with a 3.78 ERA in 143 games (127 starts).

Kansas City Royals Team Facts

  • The Royals have covered the run line in eight of their last nine games.
  • The Royals have trailed after 7 innings in each of their last five games at Citi Field.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Royals’ last five games against NL East opponents.

Royals vs Mets Prediction

I’ll take a stab on the Mets here. Severino had a sketchy debut this season versus the Brewers, going 5.0 innings with three earned on 11 hits in a loss. He was able to bounce back with 5.0 innings of one-run ball against the Reds back on April 6, though. Severino should be able to post a quality start Friday if all goes well.

On Thursday the Mets had a stellar offensive outing, notching 16 team hits as they demolished Atlanta. Pitching-wise New York did give up 10 hits to the Braves, but had a comfortable cushion for the vast majority of the game. That sort of output likely won’t occur again here, but I think New York can post a solid showing.
