The Pittsburgh Pirates are 11-6 this season and they have alternated wins and losses over their last five games. Pittsburgh had a 3-0 lead on Monday, but dropped game one by a score of 6-3. Prior to this series, the Pirates split a four game set with the Phillies. The Pittsburgh pitching staff has a 3.65 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, and a .228 opponent batting average. Mets Preview

The New York Mets are 8-8 this year and they have won four of their last five games. New York won game one by a score of 6-3 on Monday night and they won two out of three against the Royals in the prior to series. The New York pitching staff has a 3.48 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and a .227 opponent batting average. The Mets offense has scored 75 runs with a .248 batting average and a .333 on base percentage. Pete Alonso is batting .254 with six home runs and 10 RBI’s for the Mets. New York Mets Team Facts

  • The Mets have won seven of their last eight home games against the Pirates.
  • The Mets have covered the run line each of their last nine Tuesday games against teams that held a winning record.
  • The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Mets’ last four night games at Citi Field.

Pittsburgh Pirates Team Facts

  • The Pirates have lost seven of their last eight games at Citi Field.
  • The Pirates have covered the run line in each of their last 15 road games against National League opponents following a road loss.
  • The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Pirates’ last five night games against National League opponents.

Pirates vs Mets Prediction

New York couldn’t get anything going over the first half of the game against the Pirates on Monday, but they kept fighting and were able to get the win. The Mets have played well in their last three series and they have bounced back from that really bad start. Pittsburgh has been very strong to start this season and they are 11-6 on the year. The Pirates are tentatively scheduled to start Jared Jones, who has allowed eight earned runs over 18.0 innings pitched in three starts. The Mets are going with Jose Quintana, who has allowed six earned runs over 15.2 innings in three starts. Quintana hasn’t lasted very long in his first three starts, but he has faced three pretty solid hitting teams. I like how Quintana has handled his first three starts and I like the Mets to get the win.
