In this article we will formulate a NY Yankees vs Cleveland Guardians prediction for this MLB game on Tuesday, October 15th at Yankee Stadium in New York. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game two in the ALCS.

NY Yankees Betting Preview

The New York Yankees were able to pick up the win in game one of this series by a score of 5-2 on Monday, and they will look for a commanding 2-0 series lead here. New York scored three runs in the third, one in the fourth, and one in the seventh, but needed to navigate a couple of tricky innings late in the game for the win. Prior to this series, the Yankees won three out of four games against the Royals, but only scored eight runs in the final three games of the series.

The New York pitching staff had a 3.74 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and a .233 opponent batting average in the regular season. The Yankees offense scored 815 runs with a .248 batting average and a .333 on base percentage this year. Aaron Judge hit .322 with 58 home runs and 144 RBI’s for the Yankees this season.

Cleveland Guardians Betting Preview

The Cleveland Guardians were only able to score two runs in the first game of this series, and they will try to avoid falling down 0-2 here. Cleveland scored one run in the sixth and one run in the eighth, but they did strand first and third with just one out in that eighth inning. The Guardians did get eight hits, but Alex Cobb only made it through 2.2 innings as the starter. Prior to this series, the Guardians defeated the Tigers in five games in the ALDS.

The Cleveland pitching staff had a 3.61 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP and a .230 opponent batting average this season. The Guardians offense scored 708 runs with a .238 batting average and a .307 on base percentage during the regular season. Jose Ramirez hit .279 with 39 home runs and 118 RBI’s this year.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for New York is Gerrit Cole, who allowed four earned runs and 13 hits over 12.0 innings against the Royals in the ALDS. Cole has allowed one earned run or fewer in three of his last four starts. The projected starting pitcher for Cleveland is Tanner Bibee, who allowed two earned runs and eight hits over 8.2 innings against Detroit in the ALDS. Bibee has allowed two earned runs or fewer in four straight starts, but only lasted 4.0 and 4.2 innings against Detroit.

Matchup/League Facts

  • The New York Yankees rank 1st in the league for home runs this season (237).
  • The New York Yankees rank 1st in the league for walks this season (672).
  • The Cleveland Guardians rank 2nd in the league for hits allowed this season (1224).
  • The Cleveland Guardians rank 3rd in the league for ERA this season (3.61).

NY Yankees vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction

New York was able to jump on Cleveland early in game one of this series and they really were never in danger of losing the game. The Yankees offense struggled in their series with the Royals and even though they scored five runs in game one, they should have had more. On the other side, the Guardians offense has been hit or miss in this postseason and will now have to deal with Cole. New York definitely has the pitching advantage in this game and I like them to win by at least two runs here.
