The Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees meet Saturday in MLB action from Yankee Stadium. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Tampa Bay Rays vs. New York Yankees prediction.
Tampa Bay Rays Team Preview
The Tampa Bay Rays come into this one looking to bounce back from a 5-3 loss in Friday’s series opener against the Yankees. Going into Friday’s matchup, Isaac Paredes leads the Rays with 5 home runs and 12 RBIs while Jose Siri has a team-high 32 strikeouts with a team-high 4 doubles while Amed Rosario also has 4 doubles as well. Yandy Diaz also has 10 RBIs while Siri has a team-high 6 stolen bases. Jose Caballero also has 5 stolen bases as well this season. Zach Eflin will start for the Rays in this one and is 1-2 with a 4.63 ERA and 20 strikeouts. The Rays will meet the Tigers after this series.
New York Yankees Team Preview
The New York Yankees come into this game looking to build on their win in Friday’s opener. Entering Friday, Juan Soto leads the Yankees with 25 hits and a .352 batting average along with a .478 OBP in addition to a team-high 17 RBIs and 4 home runs. Giancarlo Stanton has a team-high 5 home runs with 10 RBIs and Oswaldo Cabrera has 3 home runs and 13 RBIs. Alex Verdugo also has a team-high 6 doubles while Aaron Judge has 3 home runs, 11 RBIs and a team-high 22 strikeouts. Anthony Volpe also has 22 hits with a team-high 6 stolen bases. Nestor Cortes will get the start for the Yankees here and is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA and 19 strikeouts this season. The Yankees will face the A’s following this series.
Rays vs. Yankees Prediction
I’m on the Rays here. It didn’t pay off in Friday’s opener, but I stand by the sentiment that these matchups between these AL East rivals are usually fairly competitive. The Yankees are the more productive lineup to this point, but Nestor Cortes Jr. starting here does little for my confidence as he’s been one of the weak links of the Yankees’ rotation to this point. I think Tampa Bay is where the value lies once again so give me the Rays here.
