The Chicago White Sox and the Oakland A’s meet Tuesday in MLB action from the Oakland Coliseum. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Oakland Athletics vs Chicago White Sox Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Chicago White Sox will send out Jonathan Cannon for the start here and Cannon is 1-5 with a 4.11 ERA and 46 strikeouts this season. This will be Cannon’s first career start against the A’s. The Oakland A’s will start Ross Stripling for the start here and is 2-10 with a 5.64 ERA and 38 strikeouts this season. This will be Stripling’s second career start against the White Sox.

Chicago White Sox Recap

The Chicago White Sox are in dire need of a win just to feel good after a 21st straight loss on Monday in the series opener by a final score of 5-1. The loss put the White Sox at risk of another series loss after falling short against the Twins, Royals and Mariners in the last two weeks.

White Sox Just Looking For Any Positive

Gavin Sheets has a .214 batting average and a .298 OBP along with 19 doubles and 31 RBIs while Andrew Vaughn has 13 homers and 50 RBIs and Andrew Benintendi has 9 home runs and 33 RBIs with Vaughn logging 22 doubles as well as a team-high 92 hits.

Why the Chicago White Sox will win

  • The Athletics have lost each of their last four games as favorites against AL Central opponents following a win.
  • The underdogs have won six of the last nine games between the White Sox and Athletics.
  • The White Sox have covered the run line in each of their last seven Tuesday games as underdogs.
  • The Athletics have failed to cover the run line in each of their last four games as favorites against AL Central opponents following a win.

Oakland A’s Recap

The Oakland A’s will try to keep their momentum going after a convincing win in Monday’s series opener. The win gave Oakland a chance for another series win since the all-star break despite ending up with a series loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers this past weekend.

A’s Trying To Get Out Of AL West Basement

Brent Rooker leads the A’s with 81 RBIs along with 28 home runs this season while Abraham Toro has 79 hits and 26 RBIs. JJ Bleday has a team-high 31 doubles, 4 triples, 96 hits and 38 RBIs and Toro has a .252 batting average. Rooker also has 123 K’s at the dish this season, while Zack Gelof has the unfortunate title of leading strikeout bat with 125 strikeouts this season. Shea Langeliers has also chipped in 21 home runs and 57 RBIs.

Why the Oakland Athletics will win

  • The White Sox have lost each of their last 21 games.
  • The favorites have won each of the White Sox’s last 19 games.
  • The Athletics have covered the run line each of their last 10 night games against teams that held a losing record.
  • The White Sox have failed to cover the run line in nine of their last 10 games.

Oakland Athletics vs Chicago White Sox Prediction

I’m on the A’s here. Sure, a matchup with Ross Stripling feels like the White Sox’ best chance at a win in this series. However, the White Sox continue to stink up the joint and just look like they’re toast. I mean there’s a strong possibility that the White Sox could set the record for most losses in a season as they’d have to win 14 of their games the rest of the way to avoid that accolade if you want to call it that, and I’m honestly not sure they do. I think the A’s losing this matchup, even in a lost season, would do more harm than good. Give me the A’s here as backing Chicago just isn’t an option.
