The Texas Rangers and the Oakland A’s meet Wednesday in MLB action from the Oakland Coliseum. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s an Oakland Athletics vs Texas Rangers Prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Texas Rangers will start Cody Bradford here and Bradford is 6-3 with a 3.59 ERA and 66 strikeouts this season. In his career, Bradford is 1-0 with a 1.32 ERA and 15 strikeouts against Oakland. Brady Basso will get the nod for the A’s here and is 1-0 with a 2.33 ERA and 16 strikeouts this season. This will be Basso’s first career start against the Rangers.
Texas Rangers Recap
The Texas Rangers come into this one looking to bounce back after starting the series on the wrong foot with a 5-4 loss to the A’s in Tuesday’s series opener. The loss put the Rangers at risk of back-to-back series losses after falling short against the Mariners this past weekend.
Rangers Playing Out The String
Going into Tuesday, Marcus Semien leads the Rangers with 146 hits along with 26 doubles, 22 home runs, and 73 RBIs while Adolis Garcia has 23 home runs and 80 RBIs with 26 doubles as well as 11 stolen bases. Jonah Heim has 12 homers and 55 RBIs and Josh Smith also has 27 doubles. Wyatt Langford also chipped in 25 doubles, a team-high 4 triples, 13 homers, 69 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases. Leody Taveras also has a team-high 21 stolen bases as well this season.
Why the Texas Rangers will win
- The Athletics have lost eight of their last nine home games following a home win.
- The Rangers have won each of their last four games against the Athletics following a road loss.
- The Rangers have covered the run line in each of their last four night games following a road loss.
- The Athletics have failed to cover the run line in each of their last four games against American League opponents after playing the previous day.
Oakland A’s Recap
The Oakland A’s will try to keep the ball rolling after getting the series started on a high note with their win in Tuesday’s opener. The win was just what the doctor ordered after the A’s were swept by the New York Yankees this past weekend.
A’s Trying To End Season On Positive Ground
Entering Tuesday’s opener, Brent Rooker leads the A’s with 155 hits and 110 RBIs along with 38 home runs this season while Lawrence Butler has 22 home runs, 57 RBIs, and 23 doubles. JJ Bleday has a team-high 43 doubles, 4 triples, 134 hits and 57 RBIs. Rooker also has 167 K’s at the dish this season, while Zack Gelof has the unfortunate title of leading strikeout bat with 179 strikeouts this season. Shea Langeliers has also chipped in 28 home runs and 75 RBIs.
Why the Oakland Athletics will win
- The underdogs have won four of the Rangers’ last five games.
- The Rangers have lost each of their last three games as favorites.
- The Athletics have covered the run line in 14 of their last 15 night games against AL West opponents.
- The Rangers have failed to cover the run line in eight of their last nine games as road favorites against American League opponents.
Oakland Athletics vs Texas Rangers Prediction
I’m on the A’s here. I liked Oakland on Tuesday and I like them again here as the Rangers have been abysmal against left-handed pitching over the last week. Basso’s been fantastic in his limited action for Oakland so far, and in a matchup between two teams playing out the string, I think the value is on the sentimental favorite in the A’s who are nearing the end of their time in Oakland. Give me the A’s here.
