South Korea and the USA face off on Saturday in an Olympic baseball showdown at Azuma Stadium in Fukushima..
South Korea has played one game so far in the Olympics and they were able to come away with the victory over Israel. It was a competitive game, but South Korea was able to win 6-5. Israel and South Korea went to extra innings in that first game, and it was South Korea who scored one run in the 10th inning to come away with the victory. Oh Ji-hwan was talked a lot about heading into these Olympics about if he deserved a spot, but it’s clear that he does. Ji-hwan drove in three runs in the last game, and he is going to need to play a big role again in this game.
On the other side of this matchup is the USA who looked impressive in their first game against Israel. The United States opened up the scoring in the third inning with three runs, and they never looked back as they defeated Israel 8-1. The United States finished the game with 11 hits and also didn’t commit any errors. Tyler Austin was the star of the show in the first game driving in three runs, and two other players had two RBI’s. The USA also looked impressive with their pitching, and that is something they are going to need to lean on again in this game.
The United States had strong pitching in the first game of the Olympics, and it’s going to happen again in this game. Look for South Korea to struggle to score in this game and the USA will come away with the victory. The under is also going to cash.
