The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Baltimore Orioles meet Saturday in MLB action from Oriole Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game weekend series. In the Friday opener, the Orioles posted a comeback win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pirates played the Rockies this week, losing two of three games in that series. On Friday versus Baltimore, Pittsburgh had a 1-0 lead going into the sixth but eventually fell 6-3. Starter Johan Oviedo put up 5.0 innings with one earned on four hits and five walks.

For the starter job on Saturday, the Pirates will send out Roansy Contreras. In his seven starts this year Contreras is 3-3 with a 4.74 ERA. He’s got 31 Ks in 38.0 innings. Contreras is 8-8 with a 3.97 ERA in 29 career games (26 starts).

Baltimore Orioles

Over on the Orioles’ side, they managed to take two of three games from the Rays this week. On Friday Baltimore bagged all their runs in the final three innings during the comeback victory. Kyle Bradish lasted 6.0 clean frames in the start with three hits and a walk.

Tyler Wells will make the start for the O’s on Saturday. Over his seven games (six starts) this year Wells is 2-1 with a 3.15 ERA and 31 Ks in 40.0 innings. Wells is 11-11 with a 3.99 career ERA in 74 games (29 starts).

The Pirates are 4-1 in their last five Saturday games and 70-147 in their last 217 road games. Pittsburgh is 16-37 in their last 53 in game two of a series.

Meanwhile, the Orioles are 2-9 in their last 11 Saturday games and 1-4 in their last five in game two of a series. Baltimore is 136-285 in their last 421 versus a team with a winning record.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m going to stick with the Orioles. Wells is pitching well over his last three starts. In that time he has a combined seven earned on 10 hits and five walks over 16.2 innings total. Wells is 2-0 in that time. As for Contreras, he’s struggled over his last pair with nine earned on 15 hits and seven walks over 10.1 innings, losing both. On Friday, Baltimore started pretty slow but thanks to a four-hit, three-RBI evening from Cedric Mullins they were able to pull out the win. I like the O’s to keep it rolling in game two.

Andrew's Free Pick: Baltimore Orioles -167
