Chicago is fresh off a weekend series versus the Washington Nationals. The Cubs won the first pair before a 5-1 loss Saturday. In the finale Chicago powered out a 5-0 shutout win. Shota Imanaga lasted 7.0 innings in the start with six hits, no walks and four Ks.
As starter for Monday’s game, the Cubs didn’t immediately announce a name.
Philadelphia Phillies Betting Preview
Over on the Phillies’ side, they played the New York Mets in their last set. Philadelphia lost two of the first three games (winning 12-2 Friday). On Sunday the Phillies took a tough 2-1 loss. Starter Zack Wheeler finished with 7.0 innings and two earned runs.
In the starter slot Monday Philly will go with Aaron Nola. So far Nola is 12-8 with a 3.54 ERA in 31 starts. Nola is 102-79 with a 3.70 ERA in 266 career starts.
Philadelphia Phillies vs Chicago Cubs Prediction
I’ll go with Philly here. Nola needs to keep it going with another solid start, though. In his last outing Nola notched 7.0 innings and just one earned in a no-decision versus Milwaukee. Prior to that however, Nola had 10 earned over 9.0 combined innings in a pair of losses to the Mets and Marlins.
On Sunday the Phillies couldn’t get much going at all on five team hits. Four of those hits belonged to Trea Turner (run) and Nick Castellanos (Alec Bohm had the other). Everyone else came up empty. The good news is that Philly only used one bullpen arm so they’ll be all set following Nola on Monday. The bats have to get moving, though.
