The Milwaukee Brewers and the Philadelphia Phillies meet Wednesday in MLB action from Citizens Bank Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game series this week. Milwaukee Brewers 

The Brewers played the Reds over the weekend, taking a three-game sweep. On Tuesday versus Philly, Milwaukee’s Andruw Monasterio and Brice Turang were the only players with multiple hits in a 4-3 loss. Starting pitcher Julio Teheran went 4.2 innings with four earned. 

For the starter job in the Wednesday matchup, the Brewers will send out Colin Rea. (It was originally going to be Wade Miley, but he’s been placed on the IL due to an elbow injury.) This year over 16 games (15 starts) Rea is 5-4 with a 4.71 ERA and 67 Ks in 80.1 innings. Over his career Rea is 13-12 with a 4.83 ERA in 52 games (42 starts). 

Philadelphia Phillies 

Over on the Phillies’ side, they managed to win three of four from the Padres over the weekend. On Tuesday Philadelphia got two hits apiece from Tre Turner, Bryson Stott and Alec Bohm. That trio combined for two runs and two RBI as well. Philadelphia posted 12 hits as a team. 

Christopher Sanchez will take the mound for the Phillies on Wednesday. This year Sanchez is 0-3 with a 3.26 ERA and 27 Ks in 30.1 innings. Sanchez is 3-5 with a 4.66 ERA in 28 games (10 starts) during his career. 

The Brewers are 52-42 against the money line in all games this season and 26-21 against the money line in road games this season. Rea is 0-2 when starting against Philadelphia in his career. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll go with the Brewers in this one. We should have an interesting starter matchup regardless. Rea needs a bounce-back effort after five earned in 4.2 innings against the Reds in his last start. He was pitching well before that, however. As for Sanchez, he’s got five earned in his last 17.0 innings but is just 0-2 in that time. On Tuesday Milwaukee really only had one bad inning from the pitching staff (the two-run fifth) and the bullpen combined for 3.1 innings, five hits, zero walks and four strikeouts. I like the Brewers to keep the offensive momentum going also, but it will likely be another close game.
