The New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies meet Sunday in MLB action from Citizens Bank Park. This will be the finale in a three-game weekend series. New York Mets 

The Mets couldn’t find much offense in the Friday opener of this series, notching three hits in a 5-1 loss. On Saturday New York posted two runs in the sixth during a 4-2 win. Starter Max Scherzer logged 6.0 innings, two earned, one walk and eight Ks. 

For the starter job on Sunday the Mets will go with Carlos Carrasco. Over his nine starts this year Carrasco is 2-3 with a 6.34 ERA and 28 Ks in 44.0 innings. Carrasco is 106-88 with a 3.95 ERA in 292 career games (245 starts). 

Philadelphia Phillies 

Over on the Phillies’ side, they scored three runs in the sixth inning on the way to the win Friday. In game two Philadelphia had nine hits in the loss.  Christopher Sanchez lasted 5.0 frames with three earned on five hits and four Ks. 

Zack Wheeler will take the mound for the Phillies on Sunday. In his 15 starts this year Wheeler is 6-4 with a 3.48 ERA and 98 Ks in 88.0 innings. Wheeler is 80-61 with a 3.42 ERA in 210 career starts. 

The Mets are 4-10 in their last 14 versus a right-handed starter and 7-21 in the last 28 road games. New York is 9-25 in their last 34 versus a team with a winning record. 

Meanwhile, the Phillies are 4-1 in their last five Sunday games and the under is 4-0 in their last four in game three of a series. The under is 6-2 in Philly’s last eight Sunday games.

I’ll stay with the Phillies. Wheeler is roiling right along these days. In his last three starts, Wheeler has just one earned run in 19.1 combined innings on 11 hits and four walks. He’s 2-0 in that trio. In the Saturday matchup the Phillies had one bad inning, and if they can get the bats going Philadelphia should be fine.
