The Colorado Rockies and the Pittsburgh Pirates meet in MLB action from PNC Park on Wednesday. Let’s dive into the odds, starting pitching matchup, history and make a prediction for this game.

Odds

Pittsburgh is listed as a -145 home favorite while Colorado is a +125 road underdog. The total for this game is set at 8.5 runs.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Colorado will send Antonio Senzatela to the mound here and he is 0-1 with a 1.80 ERA and 3 strikeouts this season. Pittsburgh is 3-3 with a 4.54 ERA and 32 strikeouts this season.

Matchup History

Colorado’s 10-1 win over Pittsburgh on Tuesday snapped Pittsburgh’s five-game winning streak in this head-to-head matchup.

Trends

Colorado is 7-2 in their last 9 games overall and 7-19 in their last 26 Wednesday games while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall. Pittsburgh is 6-2 in their last 8 games against the NL West and 45-93 in their last 138 game three matchups while the over is 15-5-1 in their last 21 Wednesday games.

Pick

I’m backing the Pirates here. Never thought I’d be saying this about Rich Hill of all people, but he’s pitching fairly well right now, and even though I have a sneaking suspicion that some regression is definitely on the horizon, I’m going to keep riding this for as long as I can. Antonio Senzatela faced the Pirates twice in 2019 but in those two starts he came out with an ERA over 15 and I just don’t like him in this matchup. I’ll side with the Pirates at home here.
