The Philadelphia Phillies and the Colorado Rockies meet in MLB action from Coors Field on Friday night. Let’s dive into the odds, starting pitching matchup, history and make a prediction for this game.

Philadelphia is listed as a -155 road favorite while Colorado is a +135 home underdog. The total for this game is set at 12 runs.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Taijuan Walker will start for the Phillies here and is 3-2 with a 5.97 ERA and 35 strikeouts this season. Colorado will start Austin Gomber here and is 3-4 with a 6.75 ERA and 22 strikeouts this season.

Matchup History

Philadelphia’s 9-3 win over the Rockies on April 23rd, 2023, made it three straight wins for the Phils and eight in the last nine meetings in this head-to-head matchup.

Philadelphia is 0-4 in their last 4 road games and 1-7 in their last 8 road games against a team with a left-handed starter while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games against the NL West. Colorado is 4-0 in their last 4 home games and 5-2 in their last 7 games following a win while the under is 8-2 in their last 10 games against a team with a right-handed starter.

I’m backing the Rockies here. This is simply a value play for me as I just don’t fully trust Taijuan Walker to perform here. Austin Gomber was hot garbage through his first four starts of the year, but has a 1.59 ERA in his last three starts. It’s always a bit dicey backing Gomber, I’ll admit, but maybe there’s something to how well he’s pitched lately and maybe he’s figured it out. Either way, I’m taking a shot at the plus money here.
