San Francisco Giants Betting Preview

The Giants had a brief lead at a couple points in the Thursday opener of this set. Eventually San Francisco fell 6-4 after giving up four in the seventh inning, though. Nick Ahmed led the way on two RBI and two hits. Michael Conforto had a solo homer and plated three runs with his three hits as well.

In the starting pitcher slot for the Friday matchup, the Giants will send out Kyle Harrison. In Spring Training this year Harrison posted a 2-0 record with a 4.26 ERA over four starts, striking out 17 in 12.2 frames. Last year Harrison went 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA in seven starts. The Giants will face the Dodgers, Padres, Nationals, and Rays after this series.

San Diego Padres Betting Preview

Over on the San Diego side, they were down 3-2 going into the bottom of the seventh on Thursday but powered out the win on nine team hits. Jake Cronenworth posted two RBI, while both Luis Campusano and Xander Bogaerts contributed two hits and a run each.

As starter for Friday’s game, the Padres will go with Joe Musgrove. In his three Spring Training starts this year, Musgrove went 1-2 with a 13.50 ERA and five Ks in 6.0 frames. Last year Musgrove posted a 10-3 record with a 3.05 ERA in 17 starts, notching 97 Ks in 97.1 innings. The Padres will take on the Dodgers after this series.

Giants vs Padres Prediction

I’ll take a stab on the Giants here. At least some of that is due to Musgrove’s struggles in Spring Training—not to mention his opening start in South Korea against the Dodgers back on March 21. Musgrove gave up five earned on seven hits and two walks in just 2.2 frames in that one, so he’ll obviously need a huge bounce-back effort Friday.

In the Thursday matchup, San Francisco managed nine hits and got a decent start out of Logan Webb. The bullpen faltered though—mostly due to Luke Jackson’s three earned. Provided the Giants can rebound on the mound in game two I think the offense will keep them in the game.
