In this article we will formulate a San Francisco Giants vs Colorado Rockies prediction for this MLB game on Sunday, May 19th at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game three in this series.

Giants Climbing Towards .500

The San Francisco Giants are 22-25 this year and they have won three games in a row. San Francisco has won the first two games in this series by scores of 10-5 and 14-4. Prior to this series, the Giants lost two out of three against the Dodgers, won two out of three against the Reds, and won two out of three against the Rockies. San Francisco has won seven of their last eleven games and they are now third in the NL West behind the Dodgers and Padres.

The San Francisco pitching staff has a 4.55 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP, and a .263 opponent batting average. The Giants offense has scored 193 runs with a .247 batting average and a .315 on base percentage. Matt Chapman is batting .236 with five home runs and 20 RBI’s for the Giants this season. San Francisco is just 18th in runs scored so far this year, but they have scored 28 runs in their last three games.

Rockies Look to Recapture Winning Ways

The Colorado Rockies are 15-30 this season and they have won seven of their last nine games. Colorado has dropped the first two games in this series, but they have scored nine runs. Prior to this series, the Rockies swept the Padres, swept the Rangers, and lost two out of three against the Giants. Colorado has played much better offensively over the last ten games, but they are still last in the NL West, 14.5 games behind the Dodgers.

The Colorado pitching staff has a 5.38 ERA, a 1.57 WHIP, and a .283 opponent batting average. The Rockies offense has scored 181 runs with a .249 batting average and a .308 on base percentage. Ryan McMahon is batting .308 with six home runs and 24 RBI’s for the Rockies this season. Colorado is last in the MLB in team ERA and they are 22nd in runs scored, but they have scored at least four runs in nine of their last ten games.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for San Francisco is Jordan Hicks, who is 3-1 with a 2.44 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP over 48.0 innings pitched this year. Hicks has allowed two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five starts, but has allowed seven hits in each of his last two outings. The projected starting pitcher for Colorado is Dakota Hudson, who is 1-6 with a 6.13 ERA and a 1.69 WHIP over 39.2 innings pitched this season. Hudson has allowed at least four earned runs in three of his last five starts, but has pitched slightly better in two of his last three outings against the Padres and Marlins.

Why the San Francisco Giants will win

The Rockies have lost each of their last eight games at Oracle Park against NL West opponents that held a losing record.
The Giants have won each of their last seven home games against the Rockies.
The Rockies have failed to cover the run line each of their last seven games at Oracle Park against teams that held a losing record.
The favorites have covered the run line in each of the Rockies’ last four games at Oracle Park.
The Rockies have trailed after 5 innings in each of their last eight games at Oracle Park against National League opponents that held a losing record.

Total Runs Facts

Each of the Rockies’ last seven games against NL West opponents have gone OVER the total runs line.
Each of the last five games between the Rockies and Giants at Oracle Park have gone OVER the total runs line.
The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Giants’ last four games as favorites.

San Francisco Giants vs Colorado Rockies Prediction

Colorado comes into this game with the worst team ERA in the MLB and we have seen why in the first two games of this series, as they have allowed 24 runs. San Francisco isn’t a very high scoring team, but they will look to keep it going against Dakota Hudson, who has been pretty bad this year. The Giants are starting Jordan Hicks, who has allowed a decent amount of hits recently, but has been very good at limiting runs. This Colorado pitching staff can’t be trusted, so my San Francisco Giants vs Colorado Rockies prediction is for the Giants to win by at least two runs.
