The New York Mets and the San Francisco Giants meet in MLB action from Oracle Park on Tuesday night.
The New York Mets will look to build on their 13-3 beatdown of the Giants from Monday’s opener. Francisco Lindor has 40 hits along with 6 home runs, 26 RBIs and a .238 batting average while Pete Alonso also has team-highs of 49 hits, 11 home runs and 40 RBIs. Starling Marte has 22 RBIs as well while Eduardo Escobar has 10 doubles as well as a pair of triples and Brandon Nimmo has also chipped in a triple as well this season. Jeff McNeil has 47 hits, 12 doubles, a triple and a .311 batting average as well on the year. Chris Bassitt will start here and is 4-2 with a 2.77 ERA and 49 strikeouts this season.
The San Francisco Giants will look to bounce back from a disappointing showing in Monday’s loss. Joc Pederson with 7 home runs and 14 RBIs while Wilmer Flores has 34 hits with 24 RBIs, a team-high 8 doubles and a .254 batting average. Thairo Estrada has 39 hits with 10 doubles and 20 RBIs as well this season. Logan Webb will get the start here and is 5-1 with a 3.54 ERA and 34 strikeouts this season.
New York is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall and 10-3 in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 3-1-1 in their last 5 games against the NL West. San Francisco is 0-4 in their last 4 games overall and 54-23 in their last 77 games as a favorite while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games as a home favorite.
I get the case to back either side in this game, but I’m looking at the Giants in this one. Logan Webb’s been solid this year and while the Mets absolutely rocked the Giants on Monday, I think Webb is the perfect stopper for the Giants. Chris Bassitt’s had his moments, but I’m not sure he can match zeroes with Webb in this one. Give me the Giants.
