The New York Yankees and the San Francisco Giants square off Saturday in MLB action from Oracle Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a San Francisco Giants vs NY Yankees Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The New York Yankees will start Cody Poteet here and Poteet is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA and 4 strikeouts this season. This will be Poteet’s first career start against San Francisco. The Giants will start Logan Webb here and Webb is 4-4 with a 2.74 ERA and 61 strikeouts this season. This will be Webb’s second career start against the Yankees.

New York Yankees Recap

The New York Yankees come into this one looking to build on their 6-2 series-opening win over the Giants on Friday. The win helped the Yankees get off on the right foot once again after back-to-back series wins over the Angels and Padres over the last week.

Yankees Still Solid At The Dish

Going into Friday’s game, Juan Soto leads the Yankees with 69 hits along with 11 doubles and 15 home runs with 49 RBIs to go along with a .312 batting average and .415 OBP. Aaron Judge has a team-high 18 home runs of his own along with a team-leading 18 doubles while also posting 67 strikeouts so far this season. Anthony Volpe’s added 65 hits with 6 home runs, 4 triples, 24 RBIs and a team-high 11 stolen bases as well this season. Giancarlo Stanton also has 13 home runs, 29 RBIs and a team-high 64 strikeouts this season.

Why the New York Yankees will win

  • The Yankees have won each of their last 12 Saturday night games.
  • The Giants have lost each of their last four games as favorites against AL East opponents.
  • The Yankees have covered the run line in each of their last 10 Saturday night road games.
  • The Giants have failed to cover the run line in each of their last seven games as favorites against American League opponents.
  • The Yankees have led after 5 innings in each of their last 10 road night games.
  • The Giants have trailed after 3 innings in each of their last five games as favorites against American League opponents.
  • The Yankees have won the first inning in each of their last three games as underdogs.

San Francisco Giants Recap

The San Francisco Giants will look to rebound after a series-opening defeat at the hands of the Yankees on Friday, not the start that the Giants were looking for after series wins over the Phillies, Mets and Pirates over the last week and a half.

Giants Starting To Sputter Offensively

Entering Friday’s matchup, Thairo Estrada leads the Giants with 52 hits along with a team-high 8 home runs and 31 RBIs while also chipping in 11 doubles. Michael Conforto has 40 hits with 7 home runs, 7 doubles and 20 RBIs while Matt Chapman has a team-high 51 hits of his own alongside 14 doubles with 8 homers, 27 RBIs and 5 stolen bases. Chapman also has the dubious distinction of leading the Giants with 55 strikeouts this season.

Why the San Francisco Giants will win

  • The Giants have won each of their last four night games after playing the previous day.
  • The favorites have covered the run line in seven of the last eight games between the Yankees and Giants.
  • The Yankees have failed to cover the run line in four of their last five games as road underdogs against National League opponents.
  • The Giants have led after 5 innings in each of their last seven games as favorites.

San Francisco Giants vs NY Yankees Prediction

I’m on the Giants here. Fading the Yankees is never an easy proposition to deal with, with the potent bats the Yankees have in that lineup. However, Webb has been much better at home over the course of his career and this season has been no different. Poteet had a decent start in his lone outing at the big league level this season, but the Giants should be able to get to him as this San Francisco lineup has been solid over the last couple of weeks despite stumbling in their last couple of games. I also trust the Giants’ bullpen a lot more than I do the Yankees if we’re being honest, so give me the Giants here.
