Oakland played the Angels in their last set, winning Friday before losses 5-3 Saturday and 4-1 in the Sunday finale. On Monday versus Seattle, the A’s were down 7-3 by the end of the fifth and couldn’t come back in a 7-6 loss. Starter Zach Logue lasted 4.2 innings with seven earned on six hits and four walks.
For the starter gig in the Tuesday game, the A’s are going with James Kaprielian. Over his four starts so far Kaprielian is 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA. In 18.0 innings he’s got 13 hits, nine earned, 10 walks and 16 Ks.
Over on the Mariners’ side, they didn’t have any luck with the Red Sox over the weekend, getting swept in a four-game series. On Monday, Seattle recorded eight hits in the win. Marco Gonzales managed 5.1 frames in the start with five earned on eight hits alongside three Ks.
George Kirby will take the mound for the start on Tuesday for Seattle. Across his three starts this season Kirby is 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA. In 15.0 innings Kirby has 15 hits, six earned, two walks and 11 Ks.
The A’s are 3-8 in their last 11 Tuesday games and 2-5 in their last seven in game two of a series. The under is 6-2-2 in their last 10 in game two of a series.

PICK: I’m going to stay with the A’s here. Kaprielian has been decent over his last three starts. He’s got five earned on 10 hits and six walks in 16.0 innings total during that time. As for Kirby, he’s coming off a rough start versus Boston on five earned, eight hits and a walk in 5.0 innings. That said, Kirby was on a pretty solid run before that. Still, I like Kaprielian to win the starter battle are and put the A’s in a good spot.
