The Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays meet Tuesday in MLB action from Sahlen Field. The Mariners are coming off a series versus the White Sox. Seattle won the first two games in that set but lost by two runs on Sunday. As for the Blue Jays, they played the Orioles over the weekend. Toronto managed three wins in four games during that series. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Seattle posted a 9-3 win over the White Sox on Friday, then followed that up with a 3-2 win Saturday. In the Sunday game, the Mariners ended up falling 7-5. Starting pitcher Robert Dugger went 2.2 innings with five hits and two earned in the defeat.

For the starter job in the Tuesday game, the Mariners will send out Chris Flexen. Over his 74.1 innings this year Flexen has 74.1 innings with 79 hits, 33 runs (32 earned), eight homers, 14 walks, 50 Ks and a 3.87 ERA.

Over on the Blue Jays’ side, they took a 6-5 loss to the Orioles on Friday, but otherwise got victories 9-0 Thursday, 12-4 Saturday and 5-2 in the Sunday game. Ross Stripling lasted 5.0 innings with two earned on six hits and a walk in that one.

For Tuesday’s matchup, the Jays will send Robbie Ray to the mound in the start. Across his 80.2 innings this year Ray has 71 hits, 31 runs (30 earned) 18 homers allowed, 20 walks, 103 Ks and a 3.35 ERA.

The Mariners are 4-0 in their last four in game one of a series and 7-3 in their last 10 after an off day. Seattle is 5-2 in their last seven after a loss and 17-39 in their last 56 Tuesday games.

Meanwhile, the Jays are 7-1 in their last eight overall and 5-1 in their last six after a win. Toronto is 5-2 in their last seven Tuesday games and 9-2 in their last 11 after an off day.

PICK: I’m going to stick with the Jays. Ray has been pitching pretty well lately, reaching 6.0 innings or more in four of his last five. He’s also got two or fewer earned in four of his last five as well. As for Flexen, he’s posted just one earned on eight hits in 14.2 innings over his last two starts. This should be a pretty fun starter matchup but I think the Mariners will have some good opportunities to score late in the game.
