The Arizona Diamondbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals meet Tuesday in MLB action from Busch Stadium. Here’s an Arizona Diamondbacks vs St. Louis Cardinals prediction. This will be the first installment in a three-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Preview

The Diamondbacks played the San Francisco Giants over the weekend, splitting a four-game series with wins Friday and Sunday. On Monday versus the Cardinals, Arizona had a 3-0 lead in the sixth inning but eventually fell 5-3 in a rough result. Starter Brandon Pfaadt finished with 5.1 innings, two earned, two hits and three walks. Eugenio Suarez had three hits, two RBI and a run.

Arizona will send out LHP Tommy Henry in the starter role on Tuesday. This year Henry is 0-1 with a 6.87 ERA and 18 strikeouts over 18.1 innings in his four starts. In his MLB career Henry is 8-9 with a 4.84 ERA in 30 games (29 starts).

On Monday the Cards got a walk-off homer from Nolan Gorman in the victory. Paul Goldschmidt also had a solo home run with two runs, and Lars Nootbaar added two RBI.

It’ll be Steven Matz in the starting role Tuesday for the Cardinals Over his four starts this year Matz is 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA and 12 Ks in 20.0 innings. Matz is 55-59 with a 4.23 ERA in 185 games (167 starts).

Arizona Diamondbacks vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

I’ll probably take a stab on the Cardinals. You could argue this one either way, though. St. Louis will need a bounce-back start from Matz. he gave up five earned on seven hits and three walks in a loss to Oakland during his last outing on April 17. Matz had given up just one earned in his previous 9.2 frames, though.

On Monday in the opener, St. Louis fought back from an early hole as starter Lance Lynn gave up three earned runs in 5.0 innings on seven hits and three walks. The bullpen was great in their 4.0 frames, though (two hits; one walk; four Ks; no earned) and kept the team in the game. I think St. Louis will have another good effort here if they can keep the bats going.
